This research proposal is a duet by the singer Mary Denaxa and the dancer Zoi Efstathiou. Mary Denaxa comes from the field of folk music while Zoi Efstathiou is a contemporary dancer of the ROSAS Dance Company for the last 5 years. They create a performance, by forming an alloy of 2 different elements of art, dance and singing.




Zoi Efstathiou was born in Greece. Since 2016 she has collaborated with Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker as a Repertory dancer in Belgium. In 2021, Between 2013 and 2016 she performed with Michèle Noiret’s production “Hors – Champ”. Zoi collaborated with Jacob Jonas The Company in Los Angeles, where she created the original choreography ‘Gathering’.


Mary Denaxa was born and raised in Athens, Greece. Since her childhood, she took piano lessons and Music Theory and Harmony lessons.Until today, she performs as a singer/vocalist in music stages, festivals, concerts, folk fairs and traditional greek taverns, focusing in “rebetiko”, folk and traditional music, with singers and musicians with a great recognition in traditional greek music and as a member of a greek music band (Armaniak).
